Tingwu

Tingwu (通义听悟) is Alibaba’s transcription and note-taking tool under its Tongyi brand. Upload audio or video, or record a live meeting, and get a speaker-labelled transcript with auto-generated chapters, key points and action items. It saves a lot of time on lectures, interviews and meeting reviews.

What sets it apart from a plain speech-to-text tool is that it organises the transcript for you: for an hour-long recording you do not have to read the whole verbatim text — skim the chapter overview and key-point summary first, then jump to the matching timestamp when you need details.

Chinese recognition is strong and translated subtitles are supported. Accuracy drops with noise and overlapping speakers, and proper nouns should be proofread.

How to use

1. Go to the Tingwu website and sign in with an Alibaba Cloud or related account.
2. Start a live recording, or upload an existing audio or video file.
3. Set the recognition language, and turn on translation and speaker labelling if needed.
4. When transcription finishes, review the chapters, key points and action items, and mark what matters.
5. Proofread proper nouns and key figures, then export the transcript or notes.

Best for
